Game Piracy is a crime
that occurs everyday and has been for many years. Piracy of
computer games (Counterfeit Computer Games or Counterfeit
Console Games) is a large problem around the world and it
is getting bigger everyday.
Put simply; copying, supplying or
buying counterfeit games (pirated games) is
illegal and damages the game's industry (as was shown with
the demise of the Commodore Amiga computer and the failure
of numerous software companies).
It should be
understood that counterfeit game's software is produced -
copied by criminals and that some counterfeit games have been found to
contain viruses and - or malicious software.
So whilst counterfeit game's
software is widely available, it is illegal and damaging.
Buying counterfeit game software is often a false
economy. Many people have purchased fake gaming software
at computer and game shows, markets, car boot sales and
online but then found that there are issues with it which means
that not only is the software of no use.
Piracy was formed to fight the "low lives" who pray on
unsuspecting people. We work with responsible manufacturers,
copyright license holders and the authorities to identify
and report issues and to take action against offenders.
